Law: Animal Law

This blog focuses on animal law, ethics and policy. It provides a forum for community and collegiality as well as debate and the exchange of ideas. Founded by Pace Law School professors, David N. Cassuto, Luis E. Chiesa and law student, Suzanne McMillan, the blog is now principally maintained by David Cassuto. Contributors include academics, practitioners, and law students, as well as other interested members of the animal advocacy community.

This blog features a law practitioner's observations and analysis of animal law news, litigation in her state of Illinois and around the country, criminal cases as time permits, as well as links to legislation and other animal law resources.

ALDF has been fighting for more than 30 years to protect the lives and advance the interests of animals through the legal system. This page highlights new laws affecting animals, both in the U.S. and internationally.

Created by Professor Gary L. Francione, this blog aims to provide a clear statement of an approach to animal rights that (1) promotes the abolition of animal exploitation and rejects the regulation of animal exploitation; (2) is based only on animal sentience and no other cognitive characteristic, (3) regards veganism as the moral baseline of the animal rights position; and (4) rejects all violence and promotes activism in the form of creative, non-violent vegan education.
