UWC Research Repository (IR): UWC Article Drop

The University of Western Cape's Research Repository was established in 2010 to provide online access to UWC research output.

Depositing manuscripts accepted for publication

Feedback from researchers regarding the deposit of articles to the Research Repository prompted the development of a holding platform called the Article Drop.  The purpose of this portal is to facilitate the deposit of articles with the Research Repository without depositing the article directly into the repository.

To upload an accepted manuscript or article:

  1. Open the Article Drop online;
  2. Click "Upload Your Manuscript";
  3. Enter the required information;
  4. Selected your file and click "Open";
  5. Click "Upload Manuscript".

Article Drop Workflow

After an article or manuscript has been deposited the Repository Manager logs in to the platform and reviews the deposited article. The published version of the article is sourced online to determine which version of the article may be uploaded to the Research Repository. Pre-print and post-print versions of deposited articles will be placed on a repository template with reference to the published article. Articles published with Open Access journals and publishers will be made available as per the journal and publishers policies and copyright.
