Research Support

What is OA Repository?

An Open Access institutional repository is an archive of research and other outputs, e.g. ETDs, scholarly articles, book chapters, presentations, ‘grey material’, etc. For individual researchers, there are two main benefits:
1. Maximizing the potential impact of your work through increased reach
2. Ensuring secure storage of and accessibility to your electronic files over time.
For UWC, the Repository offers a showcase of the valuable knowledge produced at the institution to interested constituencies prospective staff, students and other stakeholders.

UWC Research Repository

An institutional repository (IR) manages, preserves and disseminates an institution's intellectual outputs and digital assets. Such a repository holds a wide variety of material that reflects the institution's intellectual wealth.

Deposit your work

Articles and other scholarly output are deposited via the UWC Article Drop, a holding platform from which they are harvested and uploaded to the Research Repository.  A simple guide to the use of the Article Drop is available here. An instructional video to using the Article Drop is also available on the UWC Library Youtube channel here.

UWC ETDs Repository

The University of the Western Cape electronic theses and dissertations repository holds full-text theses submitted for degree purposes since 2004, with selected titles prior to 2004. Access to the complete theses (print) collection is available via the online catalogue. To access UWC Theses online, conduct a search or browse using the options as listed on the right.
