Open Educational Resources (OER) repositories are online platforms that provide free and openly licensed educational materials, enabling access to a wide range of learning resources. 

OER Commons

OER Africa aims to promote the use and sharing of Open Educational Resources (OER) within the African education community. Their repository includes a wide range of educational materials, and users can narrow their search by education level, material type (e.g., textbooks, lessons), and subject to find relevant resources.

OER Africa

OER Africa offers links to both African repositories and international repositories that receive contributions from African institutions. These platforms showcase educational resources created by or for the African community.

Open Research

Open Research Africa publishes a variety of scholarly articles and research outputs, such as posters, slides, and documents, covering basic scientific, scholarly, translational, and clinical research across a broad range of disciplines, including physical and life sciences, engineering, medicine, social sciences, and humanities.

Merlot African Network (MAN)

Merlot African Network (MAN) is a network of partnerships between African and US educational institutions affiliated with the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT) and leading global eLearning providers offering educational programs in Sub-Saharan Africa. MAN's mission is to foster eLearning expertise communities and capacity building for open education, scholarship, and development in Africa.

DOAJ

DOAJ is a community-curated list of open access journals and aims to be the starting point for all information searches for quality, peer reviewed open access material. It contains approximately 10000 open access journals covering all areas of science, technology, medicine, social science and humanities.

 

Institutional Open Educational Resources (OERs) are educational materials produced and shared by academic institutions to support teaching, learning, and research.

UWC Library WIL OER 

This OER is part of the supporting mechanism to create an Open Educational Resource (OER) that illustrates the working environment of the University of the Western Cape (UWC) Library. The OER itself was created as a website. The OER forms part of a UNESCO grant-funded project facilitated by the South African Centre for Digital Languages Resources (SADiLaR) located at North-West University (NWU).

UWC SOPH OER

As part of undertaking to share resources and expertise and to build the network for public health education in Africa and the global South,  a collective aim is growing the Open Education Resources movement – which aims to make education resources freely available on the web.

UCT OER

The University of Cape Town (UCT) Open Educational Resources (OER) initiative promotes the creation and sharing of freely accessible teaching and learning materials. UCT OERs cover a wide range of disciplines and are openly licensed, allowing educators and students worldwide to access, adapt, and distribute them.

Stellenbosh OER

The University of Stellenbosh designed to unlock your creative potential within Learning Management Systems (LMS) like SUNLearn (Moodle) or any HTML-based platform.
