Digital Literacies

This programme aligns with the UWC Library’s Information Literacy objectives and the UWC Graduate Attributes. It comprises of a series of initiatives that seek to develop digital literacies and are targeted at UWC students and staff.

Canva's Video Editor

 

Workshop Purpose:

You will learn how to make and edit your video in Canva, including the editing features and tips you need to know as a beginner.

Workshop Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this training workshop, you should be able to:

  • Start a new project: Choose a video type to create, starting from scratch, or from TikTok Video, YouTube Video, Instagram Stories, etc.
  • Explore templates: In Canva’s library, find templates for educational videos, review videos, explainer videos, marketing videos, beauty and fashion videos, and more.
  • Add your content: Upload your own or pick from our library for stock videos, photos, logos, and music tracks if needed.
  • Edit like a pro: Crop, trim, rotate, and sync your footage and audio. No editing experience required!
  • Customize your video: Tweak the look and feel with your own colour scheme, backgrounds. Animate graphics, stickers text for a dynamic feel.
  • Review and publish: Preview, make final changes, download as a MP4 file, share a link to view, or post on your socials.

 

Optional Practice Task

There is no take-home task set for this training session as we have a lot more to cover in the second part session. Kindly think about your own context and have a go at creating your own video on Canva and explore the possibilities with free templates.

Please review the following video tutorials should you need a refresher or if you have missed the Canva training session. The following video tutorials are much more effective to watch, instead of reviewing the recording of the traning session, which is just over an hour long.
