This programme aligns with the UWC Library’s Information Literacy objectives and the UWC Graduate Attributes. It comprises of a series of initiatives that seek to develop digital literacies and are targeted at UWC students and staff.

UWC Library Services: Digital Literacies Training (2024)

The UWC Library invites you to attend and participate in a series of Digital Literacies training.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.

Email time-saving tips for increased productivity

Purpose:

You will learn how to save time in Gmail with useful tips for safety and productivity.

By the end of this training, you should be able to:

  • Use time-saving email tips for increased productivity: • undo sending email • schedule sending email • use templates for repeat emails • setting up your email signature and vacation responder • reducing space usage, etc.
  • Use safety tips so that you can avoid email-based spam and phishing scams.

Visual Communication Tool

Purpose:

Canva is a free graphics design and publishing tool that you can use for all your visual communication needs, whether it be for professional documents for your studies or work, Instagram, YouTube, etc. You will learn how to design something special with Canva! No prior experience required.

By the end of this training, you should be able to:

  • Sign up for Canva / Getting started with Canva;
  • Explore the various possibilities of free online template designs;
  • Navigate the Canva editor interface;
  • Create your design using:
  • Styling and formatting;
  • Grouping and ungrouping;
  • Adding photos, animated graphics, and other elements;
  • Layering and positioning;
  • Adding and arranging pages;
  • Save, export, and share your design;
  • Collaborate on a team design project, etc.
